So it begins…

Well this will be my first ever blog post. I am currently on a bit of a crochet marathon at the moment, with loads of projects in my work bag and many more in my mental queue. I think I need to create a real list of what I need to do and when so that I know I will get them all done in time. It’s fast approaching winter and I have a good few requests on my sisters Pinterest board to get done.

1st of all is the penguin backpack I am making for my Niece. She has just started nursery in September and needs a new school bag. I got a new crochet book for Christmas last year and have not yet had a go at any of the projects but I had a flick through and found some great designs for backpacks in there. The book is called “Amigurumi on the go” by Ana Paula Rìmoli. I have a few other amigurumi books by her and they are fab – really simple designs in double crochet that are quick and easy to work up into really nice toys.

So far I have made up the penguins head which looks rather like a big black wooly football until you see the face on it. The disembodied head is currently sat atop my sewing box in the corner of the room (looking rather fetching whilst wearing my straw hat) as he waits for his body to be made which is about a third of the way completed- bless him!

I also saw a really nice jumper in issue 22 of Simply Crochet that I fancy making for myself.
Now I have had 2 previous attempts at making clothes and one worked out better than the other. The pattern says to make the jumper with 2 strands of yarn held double throughout and on a 6.5 mm hook. I haven’t had chance to have a go at a swatch piece yet but the last time I made something on such a large hook it ended up being a bit too chunky and not very fitted so I might have to adapt the pattern. I will let you know when I get started. That’s if I do get started as projects for myself often get put on the back burner!
Also I fancy having a go at the Christmas designs in the last issue (23) of Simply Crochet.

The little bird from Lucy of Attic24 fame is proper cute and I promised my sister a crocheted Christmas dec for her tree this year, so that might be the one to try.

So these are the projects that are at the top of the list of the moment, however in the next few months or so I have 2 baby blankets to make for friends, a crocheted foot pouffe for my sister ( to match the blanket I made her earlier in the year). Also a few jewellery repairs from friends that have been sat forlornly on the coffee table for a fair few weeks now. These are just the things I can think of now off the top of my head not to mention the 101 little items my sister has added to her “for Franny to make” Pinterest board!

Ah well, best get on with it and stop nattering on here, plus there’s laundry to do and dinner to make- going to have a go at Jamie Oliver’s spaghetti Putanesca tonight but not mention to the Mr that it contains olives and capers, so shhhhh everyone!
Happy hooking and cooking to you all! Speak soon. xx
